10th Annual DIRTcar Spring Nationals in Memory of Earl J. Hubert
Earl J. Hubert May 10, 1933 - July 19, 2007
The Aroma Park resident campaigned at numerous dirt tracks throughout the area, having success at tracks like Santa Fe , the fairgrounds ovals at Kankakee and Rensselaer , Ind. , in addition to the old Sugar Island Speedway near Kankakee . He was the track champion at the almost-forgotten Sugar Island track in 1964. He was a front runner at Santa Fe , using a Ford Torino most of the time to get the job done.
Hubert was the late model champion at the almost circular Rensselaer track in 1976. One of his biggest wins came at Santa Fe in 1973 when he won the track’s annual 200-lap National Clay Track Championship battle in a 1973 Buick Century.
